42 nodded and whispered, pulling out her slingshot, "That would be correct, ma'am..." She looked around, silently awaiting a movement, a sound. "68, I implore you to lead us out of here, quickly. I'm afraid."

68 nodded and crouched, on high alert. He would protect his two companions, especially since it was at his insistence that they are all here. He unsheathed his blade, ready to defend his companions with his life. Thankfully, the underground tunnel was not but a few feet from the house's door so getting back to the Shelter wouldn't pose too much of a problem. He clicked and chirped at 60, who nodded.
"I understand that you have a bum leg, 42? 68 wants you to climb on his back so it would be easier to travel."

"I'm still getting it broken in." She climbed onto 68's back, whispering to him, "Thanks."

68 chirped and smiled in reply, nodding. 60 was rummaging through the debris and unearthing a piece of bent metal.
"This'll make a nice boomerang if bent properly. Now let's head out, shall we?" 68 nodded and led the way to the door, carrying 42 on his back. He cautiously crept out into the open, alert for any sign of machines. He let 42 down and chirped at 60, pointing to the entrance to the tunnels.
"Right. 42, he wants us to go to the entrance while he covers us. I trust you know where the entrance is?"

"Yes, I know where it is. Follow me." 42 climbed off 68's back, then took 60's hand. "68, be *sure* to follow is. I won't go to the Shelter until I know you're with us. We'll wait in the entrance, no further." With that, she led 60 to the entrance, where they waited inside for 68.

68 blinked in surprise, then nodded in understanding. It surprised him that she was so concerned for his well-being since he was a very self-sufficient stitchpunk. But it warmed him to see that he had made a friend in 42. He followed the two for the short distance, his audio sensors alert for every sound and movement. Something ran past in the shadows and 68 whirled to try to see the source. 60 saw 68's sudden movements.
"What is it?" Clicking quietly, 68 quickly moved next to them, hurrying them into the entrance. Once he made sure that they were inside, he began closing the entrance with him still outside. It seemed like a foolish move, but if any machines knew where the entrance was, then...he preferred not to think about it.

42 shouted when 68 began closing the door. "68!! GET IN HERE!!! It's not safe!! What are you--" 60 grabbed 42 with one arm and covered her mouth with the other.

60 grabbed 42 in an effort to shut her up. If 42 brought any attention to their location, they would be done for. Her voice was low as she whispered to the other stitchpunk.
"42, listen to me. I know that leaving 68 out there is hard, trust me I know, but if you make so much noise, all he's done will be in vain, understand?"
68 clicked in reassurance before he closed the door almost completely. Then, he turned to meet face to face with a large machine. This machine, easily more than 3 times his size, had a dog's skull covering its head, metal ribs lining its slim spine, traveling down to a spiked tail. Though much bigger than him, it didn't seem that reinforced, more suited for scouting than anything else. Thankfully, the machine was looking elsewhere, seemingly searching for something. He crept up, blade held at the ready.

42 nodded and sat silently, watching 68 creep on the shadow that she assumed was the beast. She held onto 60 and waited.

68 silently climbed onto some debris to gain a higher ground to be able to bring the machine down. As he climbed, he watched the machine dig around, not paying close attention to where he was climbing. He placed his foot on some loose gravel, which gave way from under him.
Shhhoooooommmmm, click, whiiiiirrrrrrr.
His head whipped around to find the machine staring straight at him. Pushing himself off the debris, the machine barely missed the mute stitchpunk. The force of the attack threw 68 backwards, but the stitchpunk maintained his grip on his blade as he skidded backwards. He whirred in annoyance as he lunged to the side, the machine missing him again.
Of course it had to be a scout! Though little armor, it's got incredible speed! Gah, should of been more careful he mentally berated himself as he dodged the machines attacks. While thinking, 68 let his guard down for a split second. The machine noticed and struck, a long canine tooth making contact with the stitchpunk's cloth skin.
68 whirred in pain, a long gash running down his side. But, gripping the blade's handle tightly, he ignored the pain and began to fight, striking the machine at every opportunity.
I need to get to higher ground...

42 whimpered. '68...' She thought. 'Fight, 68, fight! You can make it, kill him, kill him!' She pulled out her slingshot and got a pebble from the ground. She loaded her sling and began twhirling it in a circle, gaining momentum and preparing to strike from her spot. She could see the beast and was aiming for its eye.

68 attempted to dart around the machine and get to higher ground so he could deal the final blow. But the machine noticed what he was trying to do and whirled with him, striking out with it's clawed foot. It caught the injured stitchpunk like a mouse, trapping 68 underneath its claw. The mute struggled to get the metal claw off of him, able to free a hand and slash at the slim leg, but little damage was being done because of his position. A thousand thoughts ran through his head, but only one comforted him.
Heh, wasn't fast enough... At least 60 and 42 made it out ok... and the machine doesn't know where the entrance is... He stopped his efforts, looking up at the machine, clicking softly and waiting for the final blow.

42 couldn't bear it. She couldn't just watch 68 die. Quickly, she squeezed outside the entrance, leaving 60 in the dark. She snuk up behind the beast, unseen and unheard by both 68 and the dog-machine. As she approached, the beast struck at 68 again and again. FInally, when her slingshot had reached its top speed, she let go and let her rock fly. It whistled through the air, falling, falling....

60 watched wide-eyed at the scene, unable to call out lest it bring attention to the brave 42. She wished she could do something, but she was just getting used to the new body. She stepped out into the open, ready to help at any given time.
68, battered and tired beyond belief, simply continued clicking and defending himself. The machine raised its paw to deliver the blow that would end his life. 68 offlined his optics, waiting for the inevitable. But it didn't come. He opened his optics to immediately close them again as sparks of electricity rained down on him. The machine roared in pain, clawing at it's now useless eye.
Sputtering a bit in confusion, 68 did not question the turn of events and took the chance, leaping up and whirling his blade as he forced his body to move quickly up the debris. He climbed until he was high enough, then soared through the air, slicing the blade heavily down. He landed, the tip of the blade to the ground , the machine's head thumping on the ground mere inches from him. He looked around. spotting 42 with an empty slingshot. He smiled at her before he suddenly fell to his knees, shivering as his energy levels became dangerously low.
60 ran to his side.

"68!" 42 and 60 knelt by him, wondering if he was dead. 42 searched for his opening slot, but could find none. "I need to open him up! I need to see how badly he's been damaged!" She went to his cuts and whimpered at the sight. She took her slingshot and wrapped it around his biggest wound, the one on his chest. She tied it and tried to pick him up. "Help me." She said to60, who immediately complied. "We need to get him back to the Shelter, now. He needs 14."
