[EDITED]
The night was silent for one of the first times just hours before then, and now the moon rose behind the poisonus clouds in the sky. The sky around the warehouse was brown and blackened from the battle between metal and flesh. Now only a few life forms remained, having now been purged of life by the deadly gas.
The few that remained were now placed in remnants of fabric and metal, now reduced to smaller forms then their of themselves. The leader of these beings now sat lone on the top of their secluded sancuary, his single optic staring toward the sky.
He took in a deep swallow of air and let it out as he looked back down to his hands, which lay atop both his knees.
His head was buzzing again. That constant noise that forced him to think about evry little thing.
He was stuck. In this place and body.
Thoughtfully and anxiously, his fingers began to drum on his knees. He stopped himself as he wa caught by wrapping his hands around his arms. Yet his anxious nature didn't falter. His index claw picked a bit at the thread across his opposite arm.
Why was he so anxious? Even he didn't know. Something was wrong though... Something just didn't feel right.
The air was simply too... clean.

The resident recorder was currently working hard, humming a bit to herself to keep the beat. She stood on tips on the piece of parsel as her arms wrapped tightly around a small bottle of ink. Across the page, she wrote with her needle feet.
"... was ment, doubtless, as a mother herself hath told us, for a retribution too; a torture to be felt at many an unthought-of moment; a pang, a sting, an ever-recurrin agony, in the midst of a troubled joy! Hath she not expressed this thought in the garb of the poor child, so forcibly reminding us of that red symbol which sears her bosom?"
The Writer doll stalled, staring at the page for a long, long moment.
"This book SUCKS." She decreed, and dropped the bottle with a loud clang on the wooden table. She briskly stepped across the paper, and apon reaching the end of it began to roll up the loose leaf.
"Man, I hate remembering the bad ones. I sure been in a real rut lately... I need a really good one! She decided as she pushed the paper off the table. She sighed, and plopped down on the side, leaning a bit to look down at the pile of he failed writings.
"Oh, I sure wish my muse would come home..."

119 sat downstairs within the section with the other child stitchpunks. She felt out of place in the area, noting that everyone else talked to each other while she was one of the only ones who couldn't.
She sat up, back against a wall, holding her teddy bear in her hands. Sure, the ratty thing was missing part of its ear and an eye, but it did it's job. The teddy made her feel safe when nothing else could, even if it wasn't 'alive'.
She reached her hand up and touched her throat, wishing for a working voice box. She could talk some, but it usually came out as static or she stuttered a lot. Mostly, she was always cut off mid-sentance. Hardly anyone could understand her. She even sounded foreign to her own hearing sensors.
She removed her hand from her throat, looking up at all the rest of the 'young' stitchpunks, wishing she could join in.

Stars made their way through the desolate clouds, twinkling merrily down at the otherwise, depressing earth below. Other than the female muttering quietly to herself a little ways from him, the night was silent. And that's how he liked it.
68 stood, perched atop an adjacent rooftop, gazing out into the darkness. He was not a solitary soul by any means, but he enjoyed this quiet. It brought him peace, because if there was noise, there was danger. Oh sure, he enjoyed tearing up the beasts that roamed the Emptiness when they got too close to their haven, but just... enjoying life and its serenity was something he truly cherished.
His muteness did not bother him either. As long as his basic ideas were understood and his needs met, he was fine. He clicked softly, looking up as similar, harsher clicks responded and echoed through the night. He leaned against his blade, which was a half of a pair of scissors, only slightly tensed, knowing that the beast was still too far to be a concern. He gazed up at the stars but maintained the vigil, whirring softly.
{EDIT}
88 sat among the young stitchpunks, making sure they didn't wander off. The last thing that they needed was to lose one of their own to the Emptiness. She smiled as she listened to the quiet chattering of the sleepy younglings, struggling to fight off sleep. She adjusted the holes in her hands, waving them slightly, trying to find the right tune. Satisfied, she began to play a lullaby that she had heard long ago, smiling as she saw some heads nod off in sleep.

28 sat on the roof and stared up at the sky, humming a little tune. Even when she couldn't see through the clouds the sky was still amazing to her. 'Maybe I could figure out a way to stay up there...' she thought lightly.
Her thoughts were brought back to Earth as she remembered the torn parachute sitting in her lap. She sighed and went inside to go find a needle and thread. "Don't worry little guy," she said to the parachute. "I'll get you patched up..."

68 clicked in question when he heard 28 talk to no one in particular. She was an interesting stitchpunk, with her ideas of flying and soaring amongst the clouds, but than again, none of them were exactly what you would call "normal." He watched her as she fixed up the cloth in her lap, while maintaining his vigil and keeping his audio receptors open for any sign of a beast approaching.

325 grunted as he cranked the elvator upwards.
The tall, lanky stitchpunk was a bit of a painful sight. His burlap skin was covered in black denim patches. Some had been there when he awoke, and a few had been added since from various causes. One particularly large black patch ran diagonally across his face, giving him a nightmarish harlquin appearance. His hands were the most disturbing of all.
Instead of rounded fingers like many of his cloth brethren, out of his fingers sprouted sharp black claws formed from barbed wire points. It was these hands that caused most to be wary of him, even though he was a gentle soul. He had seen too much death and anguish to harbor bad feelings towards the innocent, and he knew how he looked.
He had been a solier in his former life. He couldn't remember much about his past, but everyday, little bits and pieces of his memory would return. For example, today he had remembered how to sharpen a knife today; how to take an edge down to a less than the width of one of his stitches.
He had just finished sharpening and polishing his new weapon-a discarded pocket knife blade. He had found it on the third floor among the detritus and junk piled and stored there. It was chipped and rusty, but he saw potential in rough things like this. Like himself...
Someone sure missed out on this he had chuckled as he sharpened it to a razor's edge on a broken piece of marble statuary.
He was headed to the roof to practice with it, for he preferred to practice his combat training alone. But as the elevator reached the roof and he hopped out, he was a bit suprised to find others out there this late at night.
"Oh, good evening, there," he said, waving a clawed hand in greeting.

Smiling under his scarf, 68 raised a hand as well, clicking softly in greeting. He brought his blade up across his shoulders, resting his forearms on the rusted metal. A lot of us are awake that this unusual hour...What can this mean...? he wondered as he glanced at the other two before turning his gaze back to the darkness, a quiet sigh escaping from him.

"I take it you feel it as well."
0 stood up on the roof, turning around to the other three who crowded atop the twilight-hugged roof. He looked up to the clouded sky, his single optical flickering.
"... Somewhere.... there are strange things going on... But it's not the beasts, something else. Maybe something stronger." He said, curious. He looked up again, craning his neck under the scarf he wore.
He let out a breath of air, and rubbed his temples.
"Sorry... I'm feeling a bit out of sorts." He exaplained. He looked back up, smiling akwardly to the other three.
"Why don't the three of you go out to investigate? You seem pretty reliable, and you've got 325 to lead you. I give my permission for the three of you to go into the city. Just... be sure not to go past the limits. Okay?"

325 gave 0 a short salute. "Yes sir," he barked, his voice echoing off the rooftop. "We won't let you down. Come on, you two!" He gestured for 28 and 68 to hop in the elevator to take them downstairs...and out into the city...

68 nodded curtly as he followed 325 into the darkness. So, the leader sensed something wrong as well. His forehead furrowed as he grasped the thick wooden handle to crank the elevator to the lower floors. Then that means something was going to happen. Something big. And we were just getting settled in... he mentally sighed. But since the moment each had awoken, the stitchpunks knew that their existence would be anything but easy.
He waited for the other two to walk into the rusted metal bucket that served as their elevator to begin lowering them down to the dark depths of the city.

"Yes sir," 28 said as she got up, leaving the half-repair parachute behind. Normally the thought of going outside made her excited but after what 0 had said...
28 shuddered a little and hoped none of the others noticed. 'Please...let it be nothing,' she silently prayed as she got into the bucket.

As the bucket reached the ground floor, 325 kicked the door opne and jumped out. He strode to the reinforced postern door in the corner of the barricaded door of the warehouse. He slid aside the latch and pulled the door open, it's hinges creaking as he did so.
"Well guys," the soldier said as he drew his knife out of his belt. Here we go"

119 stood up from her spot by the wall, walking over to a small hole in the outer wall. It served their purpose for a window. She stood on her tip toes to get a good look outside.
She could hardly see anything. It was still somewhat dry and barren outside. If only I could remember... she thought to herself. She knew she had been around for a while, but she couldn't remember a thing, or even remember how she lost her memories.

On the brink of dozing off herself, 88 noticed that young 119 had moved over to the window. I hope everything is alright she thought as she gently moved one youngling who had been using her arm as a pillow. She walked over quietly to the small stitchpunk.
"Are you alright, 119?" She asked softly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
68 followed behind the others, watching that nothing attacked from behind. He sensed the female, 28 he believes, tense fear. He had put a reassuring hand on her shoulder before leaving the bucket to enter the desolate city. Hopefully that helped calm her nerves a bit, he thought as the trio trekked on, unsure of what they were looking for. Now, to the task at hand.
28 smiled a bit as 68's hand left her shoulder. 'Calm down 28,' she thought as she exited the bucket. 'It's probably nothing...Besides maybe I can find some supplies for the hanglider...'
She hoped nobody had found it yet. It was still a work-in-progress and she didn't want anybody to see it until it was done.
'Focus on the mission first,'she reminded herself. She began looking around at the desolate city.
